Infographic helps visualize human trafficking stats

It may be hard to believe that human trafficking is an issue in our area. After all, we don't hear about it; but, very often, it's occurring right under our noses.

Take for example the 2019 raid in Monroeville in which we learned just how prevalent human trafficking is in Western Pennsylvania and how vulnerable we are. The crossroads of many major travel arteries make it a prime location for these criminals to move in and set up shop.

The statistics shared in this infographic show just how serious this issue is, but you can do something about it.

By educating yourself on the risks, warning signs, reporting procedures and resources available, you will be helping Rooted Outreach continue its mission to educate the public and support victims.

Similarly, ROW's Battle of the Beers Oktoberfest charity fundraiser on Saturday, October 2, 2021, presented by TribLIVE, will donate the proceeds to Rooted Outreach to support their hard work.

Attendees will enjoy local craft beer, live music, Oktoberfest-inspired food and cornhole as well as receive information about human trafficking, sexual assault and abuse and homelessness.

Rooted Outreach will be on site to share resources and spread awareness for their Rooted In Love kits, which provide clothing and services to victims of these crimes.

Tickets for the event can be purchased now.
